Night Light.

They are finally out The fireflies; I was wondering If they would skip a year; Yet the windless nights arrive Better late than never.
I walked late tonight Out amongst the dark life, Honeysuckle air surrounds bringing memories of childhood; The wonder of it all Then and now.
The fat toad waits patiently under pooling streetlights Not knowing why the gnats come Only that they do.
Now and then fireflies light on me a planet moving thru their Perseides; A momentary tree invading their world I move on as do they The dark and quiet A silent witness Closes the door behind.
